Quantum Systems, a developer of interoperable unmanned systems, has announced significant upgrades to its Reliant long-range intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform. The latest generation features a hybrid-electric power unit and increases the aircraft’s payload capacity to as much as 9 kg. The additional capacity enables Reliant to carry electro-optical sensors, laser target designators, synthetic aperture radar, signals intelligence and electronic warfare payloads.

The platform can also support satellite communications, communications relay equipment and other mission-specific capabilities. Quantum Systems said the expanded payload options allow operators to configure Reliant for a broader range of long-range surveillance, targeting, communications and electronic warfare missions.

Despite the increased payload capacity, Reliant retains a limited logistical footprint. The aircraft can be assembled by a two-person team and operated by a single operator. Its vertical takeoff and landing configuration requires a launch and recovery area measuring 10 by 10 meters, making the platform independent of dedicated launch and recovery infrastructure. The compact operating area and hybrid-electric VTOL architecture also make Reliant suitable for ship-based operations and deployments from locations with limited infrastructure.

Reliant is integrated with the Quantum Systems MOSAIC UXS software platform, allowing it to operate alongside other unmanned systems during multi-domain missions. MOSAIC UXS connects aerial, ground and maritime systems, sensors, counter-unmanned systems, drone ports and partner technologies within a common operating environment.

Quantum Systems delivers Reliant with operator workstations, training, sustainment and lifecycle support. The company positions the system as a complete long-range unmanned capability rather than a standalone aircraft. The upgraded Reliant completes the Quantum Systems Family of Aerial Systems, joining the short-range Twister and mid-range Vector AI platforms. Quantum Systems unmanned aerial systems are already in service with NATO and allied armed forces, notably the German Armed Forces and Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The company notes that Reliant is built around a secure European supply chain without Chinese components. The platform is also offered without International Traffic in Arms Regulations restrictions, supporting procurement and deployment by European, NATO and allied customers.

“Reliant’s upgrades are the result of continuous feedback from military users and partners, and our answer to enhance long-range capabilities for NATO, Europe and our allies,” said Martin Karkour, Chief Revenue Officer at Quantum Systems. “We can now offer a truly unique capability, with a minimal logistical footprint, payload superpower and impressive range and endurance – completely built on a resilient supply chain. We are very proud of that.”
