Marotta Controls, global industry experts in aerospace and defense control systems, has opened a new facility in Parsippany, New Jersey, that will serve as its Center of Excellence for Power and Actuation Systems. The location brings engineering, product development, manufacturing, assembly and testing together under one roof for the first time, completing a multiyear effort to consolidate the company’s fastest-growing product line.
Power and Actuation Systems is Marotta’s youngest business division. Engineering and program management teams have operated in Parsippany since 2022, while manufacturing and other operations remained at the company’s Montville headquarters. Continued growth placed increasing pressure on the capacity of the Montville site, making the consolidation of technical and operational teams a priority for supporting new programs and production demand.
“The Parsippany facility was designed from a clean sheet of paper,” said Steve Fox, Senior Vice President, Power and Actuation Systems, Marotta Controls. “The goal was to achieve the lowest possible cost at the highest standard of quality; bringing design, assembly and test together is how you get there. By minimizing product movement and maximizing workflow efficiency we have the ideal environment for collaboration, innovation, and significantly reduced development timelines.”
The new Marotta Controls Parsippany facility brings engineering, manufacturing, assembly and testing together for its Power and Actuation Systems product line.
The AS9100-certified facility adds approximately 50,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity and 12,000 square feet of design and development laboratory space. Marotta used value stream mapping to organize the manufacturing floor in a logical sequence from shipping and receiving through production, reducing unnecessary product movement and creating a more efficient, sequential flow from receiving through production.
Vibration, thermal and shock testing capabilities are also located within the new facility. Bringing engineering, manufacturing and environmental testing into the same building reduces the time and logistics involved in moving hardware between locations while supporting closer collaboration throughout development and production.
Unlike Marotta’s market-focused aerospace, naval, space and tactical business units, the Power and Actuation Systems division is organized around technologies that can be applied across multiple platforms. Its portfolio includes power supplies, power conversion technologies, electronic motor controls and actuation systems for aircraft, spacecraft, naval platforms and tactical systems.
The division’s near-term focus includes expanding these capabilities across naval and space programs where Marotta already maintains an established presence. Its recent program performance also earned the company a fifth Exceptional Small Business Performance Award from Lockheed Martin, recognizing Marotta as one of 11 small businesses that provided significant value and innovative solutions to Lockheed Martin during 2025.

Marotta Controls has added approximately 300 employees companywide over the past three years. The Parsippany facility was sized to accommodate continued expansion, with additional hiring expected as new aerospace and defense program awards move into production.
