Curtiss-Wright Corporation, industry experts in highly engineered aerospace, defense and commercial nuclear technologies, will invest $80 million to expand its Cheswick, Pennsylvania operations, increasing manufacturing and testing capacity for critical naval defense and commercial nuclear applications. The multi-year project includes two new buildings and is expected to create approximately 150 jobs over the next three years. The 118-acre Cheswick campus is part of Curtiss-Wright’s Naval & Power segment. The facility designs, manufactures and tests advanced systems for naval defense and commercial nuclear applications. The expansion began in 2025 and is being supported through a combination of Curtiss-Wright capital investment, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania support and federal maritime industrial base funding.

The additional capacity is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce lead times and support growing customer requirements, while retaining more than 860 existing positions.
“This expansion strengthens our ability to meet growing customer demand in our naval defense and commercial nuclear end markets and reinforces our commitment to the workforce and the community to ensure that Curtiss-Wright remains a critical supplier to these industries for the next decade and beyond,” said Lynn M. Bamford, Chair and CEO of Curtiss-Wright Corporation. “Additionally, we’re pleased to see the Administration’s continued strong funding for naval shipbuilding, including an acceleration in maritime industrial base funding.”
Coordinated by the Governor’s BusinessPA team, Curtiss-Wright received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for a $1.21 million grant through the Pennsylvania Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites, or PA SITES, Program. The company has also been encouraged to apply for state manufacturing tax programs that could provide additional benefits.

The Cheswick operation specializes in the design, development, manufacture and qualification of critical-function canned motor pumps, motors, generators and control rod drive mechanisms. It has served the commercial nuclear power industry since the first U.S. nuclear power plant was built in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, and has supported the U.S. nuclear navy since the Nautilus (SSN-571), the first nuclear-powered submarine.
